Dena's Poetry: Poetry of Love, Loss, and the Occult is Written, Designed, and Maintained by
An Apparition No Longer
Storm clouds part for you, my phantom.
Your ghostly form suddenly solid,
An apparition no longer -
You’ve stumbled through the darkness,
Blazing down like lightning…a sizzle,
A rampant spark parting the years as Neptune parts the waves.
Your trident still gleams beneath the caked on muck…
I feel you crowding my early morning hours,
Your bolts the force rocking me from sleep, arousing me
Like it was only yesterday that we met,
Like we never parted…as if the healing energy of the planets
Turned (and turned) and spun us free of the pain.
Yet…the door has nearly closed,
My heart has been threaded and the thorns removed,
So why disturb the grave we dug together?
Why rock the coffin where we’ve placed our child?
Why finger my lips so seductively when you promised you
Were my ghost…
My ghost and nothing more…?

Wild Nights! Wild Nights!
Wild nights. Wild nights!
Were I with thee,
Wild nights should be
Our luxury!
Futile the winds
To a heart in port
Done with the compass
Done with the chart.
Rowing in Eden.
Ah, the sea.
Might I but moor
Tonight with thee!
