When I Again Fall
There is nothing, Nothing that can contain this Floundering pain-- First a tear, Then a fist...and a tear or a scream (sometimes all three) Again.
Climbing nimbly, Digging fiercely, These emotions claw their way Into my day, into my night, Until I am nothing but a echo Of what I truly am.
A pile of flesh, A lump of clay, A bloody solitary rib-- From the dewy earth I've risen, From the inky black clouds I will fall (as I have fallen before).
Kisses are like sunken treasure When we are buried in the sand We cannot move forward, We will not look back, So we purse our lips in anger And flick our tongues with deceit.
I have loved you as I love Cherry blossoms in the spring, As I love my toes pressing into the beach And chocolate covered cordial cherries-- Nay! I think I have loved you even more! But now, we are broken...
Shattered and ink-stained, Harsh words digitally altered On a white, glaring screen... Fragile whispers drawn with a quill On parchment--these things are indeed real, As our love is real, and will remain real.
Truth and Destiny are slivered And wrapped about each other As our thoughts intermingle, Twist around one another Fall with me! Rise with me! These tears aren't for you at all
These tears are all I have left, So let me bathe in them freely, Let them soak into the sand, Rinse the dew from the grass, And cling to my skin when I again Fall--I have returned your rib. Let it rest firmly within your soul.
