Dena's Poetry: Poetry of Love, Loss, and the Occult
Poetry of Love, Loss, and the Occult
Masked Angel

I once knew a man,
But he didn't know me.
Our souls touched, connected,
Then he set our love free.

The load was quite heavy,
The obstacles exceedingly tall,
But I was willing to go the distance,
To swim the miles, to climb the wall.

I know my wings are crinkled,
Quite shabby, to tell the truth,
But they spread out so nicely,
Even now, past the blush of youth.

His horns are quite pointy,
To hear him tell the tale,
"I'm not the man you think I am."
Should I let him burn in his hell?

He doesn't understand that
I can see beyond the veil,
I can see the soul within the cage,
The masked angel in the cell.

So though I say sayonara,
Adios, and Ciao, too,
As I turn to walk away I know
This isn't our final Adieu.
